Rubel presents as a striker and lands a jab and kick early in the round. Daniel comes back with a head kick that lands but Rubel is able to step back and recover. The fighters trade a series of punches and kicks when Daniel gets Rubel into the corner and executes a takedown. Daniel works some body blows from within Rubel’s guard but is unable to pass or do any significant damage. Rubel is able to get up when Daniel backs off. Rubel suffered a big cut under the right eye during the takedown and is impaired somewhat. Daniel is relentless and comes after Rubel on the feet. Daniel shoots another takedown but Rubel catches him in a front headlock and time runs out.

Two very strong competitors meet in the middle and trade some leg and push kicks. Jesse is throwing the stiffer kicks but Wayne finds success with a flurry of punches. Wayne tries to keep out of range of Jesse’s kicks but Jesse stalks him. Wayne is using a counter strategy and it seems to be working. Jesse is unable to mount an offense as Wayne eludes him. Wayne counters a push kick with some body blows and they clinch. Wayne disengages with a few punches, a 1-2 that land clean. Jesse comes after Wayne but can’t seem to land anything when Wayne rocks Jesse with a flurry of punches. Jesse survives the 8-count and the round ends.
